IDAHO SALSAFEST COMPETITION
The Idaho SalsaFest offers a great Salsa competition during the main day of the event. The champions of the
competition will receive great prizes along with the title of Idaho SalsaFest CHAMPIONS.
GENERAL RULES
The competition will follow the rules below. Please read them carefully and understand that you must abide to them in order to compete.
All couples must read these rules
All couples must understand and obey the rules
All couples must consist of a male and female partner, no exceptions
All couples must show proper etiquette during the entire competition
All couples must sign-up and register in person at the registration table
All couples are allowed to use shines/freestyle
All couples are allowed to use flips
All couples are allowed to use dips
All couples are allowed to use drops
All couples are allowed to use aerials
All couples must dance to at least 90% Salsa for their routines
All couples are allowed to use any song they wish for this competition
All couples will be presented to the audience and judges
All couples will warm up for a total of 30 seconds to 1 minute maximum
All couples will be judged by a panel of judges, they will decide who are the top couples
All couples may bring their own music, or a song will be chosen for them by the organizers
All couples must provide their music in 2 CDs
All couples routines must be no longer than 2 minutes
Make sure to give a very good show to the audience
The dance order of contestants will be determined the night of finals by lottery
Proper attire must be worn, costumes are encouraged
All decisions are final
No Idaho residence is required, anyone may enter
Always have fun, remember it's Salsa!
SCORE CHART - 100 POINTS IN JUDGING
Musicality - 40 POINTS
You will be judged on:
Hitting the beats
Accentuation of the music
Continuity of the count
Musical tempo or timing is the most important aspect of the dance. Make sure that the couple does everything to it.
Technicality - 30 POINTS
You will be judged on:
Sharpness of the moves
Proper execution
Cleanliness of the routine
Technicality of the routine is another major factor of the presentation. Make sure that all the steps, combinations, shines, dips, tricks and more are well executed.
Choreography - 20 POINTS
You will be judged on:
Matching of shines
Difficulty of routine
Chemistry of the couple
Choreography is a very important issue, making sure that the whole presentation flows and goes together with the energy and chemistry.
Appearance - 10 POINTS
You will be judged on:
Costume and projection
Exposure and attitude
Energy and reaction
Appearance will also affect the final score, make sure the projection shows as a whole and that you express your routine very well on both sides of the partnership.

To register you must contact the event cordinator no later than 7pm the day of the competition.
